State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) has announced the allocation of funding for two Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) NatureWorks Grants in Ashtabula and Geauga Counties. These grants aim to support the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas in the region.

One of the projects receiving funding is the Liberty Street Park, which will receive $16,629 to install new playground equipment. This enhancement will provide children with a safe and enjoyable environment to play and engage in physical activity.

The second project is the Thompson Ledges Township Park, which will receive $16,409 to extend trails and connect them to other existing trails. This improvement will create a more interconnected network of recreational trails, allowing residents to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Representative Fowler Arthur emphasizes the importance of these local park improvements in promoting a healthy lifestyle and providing residents with more opportunities to engage in outdoor activities. She states, "Local park improvements allow more residents to enjoy our recreational spaces and promote a healthy lifestyle."

The NatureWorks projects are made possible through the Ohio Parks and Natural Resources Bond Issue, which was approved by Ohio voters in November 1993. This bond issue demonstrates the commitment of the state and its residents to preserving and enhancing the natural resources and recreational areas within Ohio.

Through the allocation of these grants, the ODNR and Representative Fowler Arthur are working together to support the development of recreational spaces that will benefit the communities of Ashtabula and Geauga Counties. These investments will not only improve the quality of life for residents but also contribute to the overall attractiveness and appeal of the region.

The announcement of the NatureWorks Grants highlights the ongoing efforts to prioritize and invest in the preservation and enhancement of Ohio's recreational areas. As the state continues to recognize the importance of outdoor spaces and their impact on the well-being of its residents, initiatives like these grants play a crucial role in ensuring that these areas remain accessible and enjoyable for generations to come.
